Logitech Mouse MX Master 3 Updated Review 2.0

Welcome to my updated review.

I’ve used the Logitech MX Master 3 for almost 5 months now. If you haven’t already please check out my original review where I cover Unbox, Review, Installation and Settings. I’ll put a link below for you.

I also have a bonus for you to that will hopefully save you some money.

I encountered issues with the Bluetooth dongle setup. So I found installing the software first without the device connected to the computer.

Then when the software asks for a connection, plug in the USB Logitech receiver. Then turn the mouse on. The software will say finding and the mouse will move on the desktop.

Windows 10 will pop up a message stating the mouse has been installed, but the Logitech software cannot find the mouse.

I found a simple restart of the computer works best. Then click on the Logitech Options Software Icon in your start menu.

The mouse has a minimal 200dots per inch or dpi to maximum 4000dpi. So when adjusting the setting it increments in 50dpi.

I found the maximum setting a little slow for me. It’s okay, but I am use to 6000 to 10000 DPI.

Another cool feature Logitech built into the mouse is called Darkfield.

So traditional or laser mouse track marks on the surface of the table, but glass is too flat and too see-through.

The darkfield laser peers inside the glass and reveal its microscopic imperfections and can also pickup dust patterns.

The result is a device that will track on any surface and glass that needs to be more than 4mm thick.

Let’s battle test to see if it works on glass.

I don’t have a glass desk or a glass plate. So I used this epic beer stein which was a little less than 3 mm.

As you can see it works perfectly.

Then for fun, I tried using the mouse on a clear plastic lunchbox.

As you can see it works perfectly.

I can see how this would work perfectly with a glass desk on any surface for that matter.

Onscreen:

The device comes with a USB A to USB C cable for charging and connection to the computer. So the mouse has a USB C connection as you can see here.

My computer has a USB C slot on the motherboard. I use the cable primarily for my phone transfer and charging. So I stopped using the factory cable. I thought why not save a port and cable.

I use a USB C to USB C cable from a company called UGreen. It’s never failed me over the years. And they have different sizes and types. I’ll put links below if you are interested.

MagSpeed™ Electromagnetic scrolling is precise enough to stop on a pixel and quick enough to scroll 1,000 lines in a second. Oh, and it’s nearly silent.

The wheel’s machined steel gives it a premium tactility and enough weight to offer a dynamic inertia you feel and it’s silent.

Let me show you how cool this is.

Demo with PIP – Offscreen
MagSpeed Wheel filmed and then onscreen with word, web browsing too.

So this is the mouse with a normal click by click scroll.

This is the mouse when you scroll quickly. As you can see the click by click magically disappears when you apply the right amount of force.

When you push the button at the top – this disengages the click by click and turns the scroll into an almost endless wheel super fast spin.

I found it was best to play around with the smart shift intensity settings. Now I love speed, so my setting is set to the very left. This means it’s super sensitive and fast.

So a little flick and my mouse rolls at around 20 000 RPM lol.
Or you could go the middle which takes a bit of effort.

Or the very end and it takes a lot of scrolling for the click by click to switch to a smooth roll.

Battery life may vary based on user and computing conditions.

Logitech state MX Master 3 stays powered for up to 70 days on a full charge – and gets three hours of use from a one-minute quick charge. And they also state Battery life may vary based on user and computing conditions. Which is a little vague.

All the way back in October 2019. I did a complete a full charge of the mouse. Then used it on average 5 hours a day for about 6 to 7 days a week. I’ll round to 6 days a week. After about 50 days the device needed charging.

I thought that was awesome. Almost 2 months without needing to charge. But I did turn the mouse off when not in use. So I imagine if you left the mouse on it would switch to a lower power state. So your usage may be less than mine.

And I tested out the 3 hours of use from 1 minute charge. I charged for 1 minute and it lasted a little bit over 3 hours.

The level of button customisation is insane. You can stick with the factory presets or you can get incredibly creative.

My Favourite custom gesture setting is arrange windows. I use a 34 inch curved monitor and I am always gesturing windows to the left or right of the screen.

There is also a custom option. Checkout all of these options for each gesture.

I’ll drop some links below if you are interested in buying the mouse.

And I also found this cool hard case for the mouse.
As you can see it also has an indent in the bottom for usb received. Then the mouse sits on top.
So you could charge your mouse and know you will be okay for 30 days of travel.

I’ll put link below for you.

Hey, would you like to see me game with this mouse? Maybe PVP or RTS. Let me know in the comments below.

Bonus time – I’ve setup a private tech help group. It’s a community of people helping people with their tech problems. Maybe you are stuck on building a PC, stuck on planning the build or just need help programming your air conditioning?

I also offer insanely cheap software deals in the group too.

I’ll put a link to the group below for you.

I hope you enjoyed this video and I’ll see you in the next one.
